English Language Challenges

I feel that this semester using blogs, was the one that contributed the most to learn English: the increase in demand, such as not be allowed the use of translators, made the task much more difficult, but now that I feel full.

It was not easy to learn English at university, since, being honest, I do not like to learn grammar but nowadays I see the fruits of that effort.

It is not easy for me to learn languages in the conventional way with tests or audios. In fact, I wait until the last moment to finish all my English levels. However, this period has been the most entertaining and dynamic to learn English.

I am sure there are still many aspects to improve, especially grammar, and the conjunction in the appropriate tenses, but I feel that at least, speaking English, I can see an improvement.

Fortunately, my mom is an English translator, so I have the teacher at home, so my idea is to improve little by little my grammar, taking advantage of the fact that next year I have very few classes, it would not be bad to dedicate a few hours to a week for English, so who knows, I can leave my career with a very good level of English. The strategy of speaking in English at home is very used: we are 4 people who speak English (at different levels) so the interaction in the language is the usual.

In this last edition of my blog, I can only thank the teacher for his dedication and patience, thanks to his dedication, today I feel more qualified than before, to travel, or interact with native speakers of the English language. At least I understand, and they understand me.

Changes to my study programme

Well, although I am happy with the knowledge acquired in the career and the experiences shared with both teachers and colleagues, I think that in more than one aspect the ICEI leaves much to be desired:

The curriculum is an example, for those who entered 4 years ago, this one no longer responding to the demands and skills of the market. Different luck has run the three inferior generations to ours since they could live the contents change just in time, being able to have access to more multimedia knowledge.

The facilities of the institute: I think that they are good, although there are not many editing rooms, or a large radio department, it has everything necessary for the teaching of journalism. One of the main problems we have had as students throughout our career is related to the above, and is regarding with recording and photography equipment.

Unfortunately, we are too many students between the two careers, for the small amount of audiovisual equipment that we have. We have everything necessary, but the amount is insufficient. In addition, the teachers do not plan the use of the equipment as a whole, so the same delivery dates coincide, and the equipment are over quickly. Better planning or investing in more equipment is the solution.

A final assessment about my career, is related to the extension: it is understood that being "professional" should not last less than 10 semesters, the problem is that there are many days off in a week, so I would like those spaces were occupied by more specialized journalism classes.

My future holidays

For this holidays I got planned a huge adventure: with a group of friends we are going to a trip among all the south of Chile, we are travelling untill we still have time and energy. The duration of the journey is variable because it depends of a lot of factors, we hope it lasts at least one month, and we disposed of whole february for the realization of out voyage.

The journey begins in Santiago, leaving all together. “to the fate” some people would say, but that is exactly the idea: not expending money in locomotion and trust in the solidarity of the drivers to make us reach our destiny.

Everyone in the group are ex scouts, because of that its in our intentions to travel among the most of national parks possible of, because more than the city and the architectonic attractiveness that may have a determinated place we are more interested in being disconnected and in places that nature and peace are the main thing above everything else.

One of our main destinations on the route is “The Conguillo National Park” placed near Temuco city in the Araucanía Región. The reservation counts with beautiful lakes, enormous paths but, most of all, the most interesting thing is that in this park there are placed the oldest Araucarias in the country!

Here I leave a panoramic photo of the beautiful landscape of the park, so that they are motivated to visit it in the future

My Hobbie

There are not many things in life that passionate me as much as being in contact with nature, and that is exactly the main problem of living in the city: because of our Gray routine, filled of cars and contamination it makes hard make time for ourselves.

Because of that one of my favourite hobbies is climbing mountains. I reached this activity because all along my childhood and adolescence I was scout at my old school. Nowadays, along a group of Friends we have maturated that nice feel of freedom and every month we join together to make some climbing in Santiago’s surroundings.

It’s a really hard activity, because to practice it you need a lot of energy, and most of all, force of will, because after a bunch of hours walking, the only thing left is perseverance. For climbing hills and mountains there are not necessary a lot of implements, essentially some good shoes, comfortable clothes and some food and water, necessary for the activity.

The last mountain that we climbed was the “Provincia” the last Wednesday, and it was extremely intense: we walked for 12 hours and a total of 18 kilometres, which 9 of them were on ascent. Also, the wind followed us all along the journey, but at the end everything has its reward: the landscape was spectacular and the opportunity to blow tension off, be one with the peace of the environment are the main earnings of this activity.

Killer Bee-Sama

To be honest I'm not very good for the series, is difficult for me to follow them on a regular basis and I easily lose my motivation to keep watching them. However, this year I have been following a series with my brother and this is "Naruto". Where my favorite character is undoubtedly "Killer Bee-Sama" a village ninja hidden among the clouds. He is my favorite because he is creative and very funny with his songs, besides being the strongest in the series, and have a great determination to save things if it depends on him.

Bee-Sama has the peculiarity of speaking at all times singing rap, this makes his interventions to be very funny, and even inconsistent, as it prioritizes the rhymes and the good sound of their songs before the listener understands. In addition, as it is about rap, through his songs manages to insult his rivals, irritating them quickly.

His physical strength also stands out above the rest of the characters in the series, since being orphaned since his childhood, he only dedicated himself to training with his older brother, who is the strongest man in his country. Over time he manages to control a mythological beast that appears in the series, being able to transform into a giant animal half octopus and half bull.

It is common within the ninja world, to find that people sacrifice for their loved ones. However, Killer-Bee participates in the Fourth Great Ninja War, where he is willing to die to save the world and all the people in it, regardless of whether they are allies or enemies.

As you can see, Killer-Bee is a great character, I invite you to watch this series and realize on your own that the mood, strength and determination of the "best singer in Shinobi history" is also one of the best ninjas in history.

This is a link of a Rap of this character, if you are interesting see it:

My Future Job (?)

When I finish my career I would like to work in the public services of the country: in some ministry or place related to the state decelopment of Chile. I imagine this work to be quite demanding work, as many lives and the nation´s progress depend on proactive and skilled workers.

In government it is very common to work in a office, sittinf in front of a computer and sharing in meetings daily. However it is also easy to reconcile that with field work traveling to regions and other locations, especiallu when catastrophes or emergencies they happen.

Within all departments that exist in the public service, I would like to work somewhere that allows me to travel through Chile, to have more closeness with people and to know in first person their realities. For example, working at ONEMI would be a great motivation for me, since I would be constantly in contact with the population, providing the necessary information to act in case of emergencies such as earthquakes, fires, and floods.

I believe that it is important for the government to have trained communicators for their positions, since most of the mistakes made by them are due to failures within the whole communication process. It is vital to have a unified discourse when facing difficult times.

The Magister Of The Future

To choose the foreigner it is also to know also type of realities and different cultures from ours. Madrid is one of the most important cities in the world and the integration of different kinds of sector is interesting.  Another reason is to develop myself also in a society that is not mine.

With this postgraduate I hope to return completely prepared to work in a position in the central government, in the Palacio de la Moneda for example, and also I would like very much to be able to dictate classes in the same public organism of this subject. Considering that every day it becomes more necessary to have professionals trained in the public area.

The choice is Madrid in the first place because it is Spanish speaking and secondly because the Autonóma de Madrid is one of the universities most qualified of the world for this kind of postgraduate. They are close to the humanities and social sciences.

To choose studies abroad it is also to know also type of realities and different cultures from ours. Madrid is one of the most important cities in the world and the integration of different kinds of sector is interesting.  Another reason is to develop myself also in a society that is not mine.

Foo Fighters

Hello everybody, I really like concert and i have had the opportunity to hear almost all my favorite singers, for example: Pearl Jam, Metallica, Chancho en Piedra, Red Hot Chilli Pepers, etc. But today I’m going to talk about the recital that I liked most, it was the Foo Fighters show in January 18, 2015 on the athletic track at Estadio Nacional.

Foo Fighters is an American rock band from Seattle, and they are known because they influence of Nirvana, due to the vocalist was the drummer of the group led by Kurt Cobain. This most famous songs are: The Best of you, The Pretender, Walk, and These Days.

The event was loaded with a lot of energy lasted more than 3 hours. One of the best moment was when its vocalist, Dave Grohl realized about the local song “Olé Olé Olé” and after listened it and found the musical notes he started to sing it accompanied with his guitar and the thousands who were there. Was an amazing moment.

My Dog

Today I´m going to talk about a very special puppy for me and my family. He is Frank a Pug Carlino of 12 years old, who arrived to our house in 2005, when he had only few months. He has a gift from my mom for me and my little brother due to our good behavior. We had always wanted a doggy, but we lived in an apartment, so when we moved to a house finally he arrived.

He was not so big, rather was a small breed, and he had a very funny black and flat face and his coiled tail like a pig. The main problem that we used to have with him, was his hair all around the house. I remember that he was my better ally in winter because he lay on my feet and sometimes on my head like a hairy pillow.

Unfortunately Frank died last year due to his advanced age, but he will always be in our heart because he was with us in many adventures with my family, like holidays, change of house, etc.

My Dream Trip

The country that I would love to travel is Egypt; visit Cairo, the Nile River. I have always been attracted to this country for its history.
It would be great to be able to be close to the pyramids and know more about the Egyptian culture.
Something fun should be a camel ride through the Sahara.

A friend who visited that visited that country last year told me that he flew in a hot air balloon to wait for the sunrise from the air, he says it is a wonderful experience.
I imagine that this country should have many interesting things to do and many places to visit and to explore.
I would like to try their gastronomy, they must be new flavors to which I am not accustomed; it would be a great test to know if the Arabic cuisine is as good as everyone else says.

The only problem is that is a very expensive trip and I do not have the money right now; maybe I will have to wait to be rich!
